Grab PayLater Extends BNPL Functionality to All DuitNow QR Merchants
Grab is rolling out a new feature allowing users to utilize its PayLater service at any merchant displaying the official DuitNow QR logo.

Grab has announced a significant expansion to its Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) service, allowing users to settle payments at any physical merchant that displays a DuitNow QR code. This update removes the previous requirement for shoppers to locate a specific Grab-branded QR standee, effectively broadening the utility of the payment method across a wider range of retail outlets throughout Malaysia.
According to the original publisher, this enhanced functionality is currently being rolled out to a selected group of users for an early-access trial. While the feature is not yet available to the entire user base, those included in the initial whitelist can now simply scan any standard DuitNow QR code using the Grab application and select PayLater during the checkout process. Existing Grab-specific QR standees will remain functional and will continue to support the payment service as they have previously.
To incentivize early adoption of this feature, Grab is offering eligible users the opportunity to earn up to 2x GrabCoins when they utilize PayLater to settle transactions via the DuitNow QR network. Users interested in determining whether they have gained access to this trial can test the functionality by attempting to scan a DuitNow QR code directly within the Grab app.
For Malaysian consumers, this development represents a major shift in the accessibility of BNPL services. By integrating with the interoperable DuitNow network, Grab is simplifying the checkout experience, allowing users to leverage their credit limits at almost any business that accepts digital payments. This move signals an effort to integrate BNPL more deeply into the daily purchasing habits of local consumers, moving beyond a limited selection of partner merchants to a more universal payment ecosystem.
