Malaysia Positions Itself as Tech Gateway for Central Asian Startups

Big Sky Capital has concluded a two-month programme titled the SEA Enterprise Technology Launchpad, designed to support B2B enterprise and industrial-tech startups from Central Asia in entering the Southeast Asian market. The initiative was developed in partnership with GUIDE and received support from Astana Hub, which is the largest international innovation cluster in Central Eurasia and a government-linked agency under the Ministry of Digital Development and AI of Kazakhstan.

The programme culminated in a demo day hosted by Gobi Partners at the Kuala Lumpur office of Jelawang Capital. During this event, participating startups presented their technological solutions to a selection of enterprise organisations, including Petronas, Alibaba Cloud, and PT Gunung Samudera Internasional (GSI), an Indonesian mining company.

According to the original publisher, the launchpad represents a component of a larger strategic effort to build a dedicated Southeast Asia-Central Asia Innovation Hub. By leveraging Malaysia as a base, the organizers intend to facilitate cross-regional expansion for technology companies seeking to establish a footprint in the Southeast Asian enterprise landscape.

For Malaysia, this development highlights the country’s growing role as a regional gateway for global tech firms. By attracting innovation clusters like Astana Hub, Malaysia strengthens its position as a central destination for industrial-tech development, providing local enterprises with direct access to emerging technology solutions from the Central Asian market.
