Malaysian Fuel Prices Rise Across the Board for August 20-26
Motorists will face higher costs at the pump this week as petrol and diesel prices see an upward adjustment.

The Ministry of Finance has announced an increase in fuel prices for the week of August 20 to 26, 2026, marking a reversal after several weeks of price declines. Both petrol and diesel consumers will see higher charges effective from midnight tonight.
According to the original publisher, the price of unsubsidised B10/B15 diesel has climbed to RM4.67 per litre, a 20 sen increase from last week’s RM4.47 per litre. Consequently, the Euro 5 B7 diesel blend now stands at RM4.87 per litre. For eligible Malaysian citizens, the subsidised retail price for B10 and B15 diesel remains at RM2.10 per litre, subject to a monthly quota of 200 litres.
Petrol prices have also experienced a hike. Unsubsidised RON 95 petrol is now priced at RM3.77 per litre, up 15 sen from the previous week’s RM3.62. Similarly, RON 97 petrol has seen a 10 sen increase, moving from RM4.15 to RM4.25 per litre. The subsidised rate for RON 95 under the Budi Madani scheme remains fixed at RM1.99 per litre for eligible drivers, with a temporary monthly quota of 200 litres in effect.
This update represents the 35th edition of the weekly fuel pricing format for 2026 and the 398th since the system was first implemented in early 2019. These changes reflect the ongoing volatility in fuel markets that affects the weekly cost of living for commuters and businesses across Malaysia.
For Malaysian motorists, these price adjustments highlight the importance of fuel management and the reliance on government subsidy schemes like Budi95. As fuel costs fluctuate weekly, understanding the impact of these changes is essential for household budgeting and managing transportation expenses, particularly for those who do not qualify for or have exhausted their subsidised monthly quotas.
