Mercedes-Benz GLC EV Estimated at RM370k-RM400k for Malaysian Market

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has officially announced estimated pricing for the upcoming GLC EV, with the model expected to retail between RM370,000 and RM400,000. Registration of interest for the vehicle first opened in December, and the SUV is now set to enter the local market as a direct rival to the BMW iX3 and the Volvo EX60.

According to the original publisher, the GLC EV is constructed on the manufacturer’s MB.EA-Medium electric architecture. It features an 800-volt system paired with a 94 kWh lithium-ion battery, which provides an estimated range of up to 713 km under the WLTP testing standard. The vehicle supports fast charging at up to 330 kW DC, allowing for a 10-80% charge in 22 minutes, alongside standard 11 kW AC charging with a 22 kW option available.

The debut variant for global markets is the GLC400 4Matic, which utilizes a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain. This configuration produces 489 PS, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. The drivetrain features a two-speed transmission for the rear motor and a single reduction gear ratio for the front motor. Furthermore, the chassis incorporates a four-link front suspension and a multi-link rear layout with a central pivot, with options for Airmatic suspension and rear-axle steering that pivots wheels by up to 4.5 degrees.

When measured against the recently launched BMW iX3, the GLC EV offers a faster 0-100 km/h acceleration time. While the iX3 provides a larger 108.7 kWh battery and a longer WLTP range of 805 km, the Mercedes-Benz alternative focuses on performance and advanced structural engineering.

This pricing announcement is a significant development for the Malaysian premium electric vehicle segment. As more manufacturers introduce high-performance electric SUVs, the competition between established German luxury brands and their rivals intensifies, offering consumers more variety in the luxury EV space.
