NXP Semiconductors Expands Chip Assembly and Test Facility in Malaysia

NXP Semiconductors has officially broken ground on a new assembly and test factory expansion at its existing site in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The project will see the facility grow to a total of 900,000 square feet, marking a significant increase in the company’s physical footprint within the country.

The expansion is designed to scale up the operations of the Dutch chipmaker’s local manufacturing hub. According to the original publisher, the company expects the new infrastructure to more than double the facility's current output capacity once it reaches full operational status.

The construction of this expanded site highlights ongoing developments within Malaysia's semiconductor sector. By increasing the assembly and test capabilities at the Petaling Jaya location, NXP Semiconductors aims to boost its production volume to meet the demands of its global supply chain.
