TNG eWallet Hits 8.5 Million Milestone for GOfinance Platform
Malaysia’s leading e-wallet continues its aggressive expansion into broader financial services as adoption rates climb across its user base.

TNG Digital has announced that its GOfinance platform reached 8.5 million users as of August 31, 2026, marking a significant 22% year-on-year growth for the financial services arm of the TNG eWallet ecosystem.
According to the original publisher, Fintech News Malaysia, the platform has sustained double-digit growth since 2024. Currently, more than four million users actively engage in financial transactions through GOfinance every single month. This indicates that roughly one in three of TNG eWallet’s total user base of over 27 million is now utilizing the integrated financial suite, which spans wealth products, insurance, financing, remittance, and the TNG eWallet Visa Card.
Desmond Teoh, Chief Financial Services Officer of TNG Digital, noted that the platform’s success is rooted in its ability to simplify complex financial needs. By consolidating savings, protection, and money transfers into a familiar interface, the e-wallet is positioning itself as an essential digital companion. The company reports that nearly half of its GOfinance users are already multi-product adopters, suggesting a strong stickiness to the platform's diverse financial offerings.
For the average Malaysian consumer, this shift signals a departure from traditional, siloed banking experiences toward a more integrated digital lifestyle. Whether managing micro-savings or handling routine insurance payments, the consolidation of these services into a single app reduces the barrier to entry for financial planning. For the worker or SME owner managing tight margins—especially in a climate where unsubsidised RON95 fuel sits at RM4.37 and diesel at RM5.27—the ease of access to financing and insurance tools via mobile could provide a critical layer of financial agility.
This trend also reflects a broader shift in how Malaysians interact with capital in a stable macroeconomic environment. With real GDP growth currently at 6.0% and an unemployment rate of 3.0% as of July 2026, many Malaysians are increasingly comfortable exploring digital-first financial instruments. As headline inflation holds at 1.9%, the ability to grow savings or access micro-financing within a mobile app offers a timely hedge against the rising cost of living, providing a convenient alternative to branch-based banking.
The growth of GOfinance sits within a maturing fintech landscape in Malaysia, where e-wallets are aggressively transitioning from simple payment gateways to comprehensive "super-apps." This evolution mirrors the global trend of embedding financial services into consumer tech. TNG Digital’s ability to migrate its massive payment user base into financial service consumers suggests that the "trust barrier" that once prevented digital financial adoption is effectively crumbling.
Looking ahead, the industry will be watching to see how TNG Digital maintains this momentum amid stiffening competition from other digital banks and non-bank financial institutions. The company’s focus on cross-selling products to its existing user base remains a primary strategy, but market saturation may eventually force a shift toward more complex, value-added financial products to maintain double-digit growth.
What remains unconfirmed is the specific breakdown of product adoption among the 8.5 million users—it is unclear which specific GOfinance tools, such as insurance versus wealth products, are driving the highest volume of transactions. Additionally, TNG Digital has not disclosed the long-term revenue impact of this user growth or how it plans to further differentiate its service offerings from traditional banking institutions.
