Xiaomi Introduces Entry-Level Redmi A7 Smartphone To The Malaysian Market
The new budget-friendly device features a 13MP rear camera and retains core specifications from its predecessor.

Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi A7 in Malaysia, marking a new addition to its entry-level smartphone lineup. The device serves as a more basic alternative to the Redmi A7 Pro, which was released earlier this year in April. According to the original publisher, the phone is designed to prioritize affordability while maintaining a familiar form factor.
In terms of physical design, the Redmi A7 mirrors its predecessor, measuring 8.26mm in thickness and weighing 193g. The display remains a 6.88-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 1,640 x 720 pixels. The screen supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz and offers 450 nits of typical brightness. A practical addition to the hardware is the inclusion of Wet Touch Technology, which enables the touchscreen to remain functional even when used with damp hands.
Under the hood, the Redmi A7 is powered by the Unisoc T7250 chipset, the same processor found in the more advanced A7 Pro model. Security features for the device include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor along with AI-powered face unlock capabilities. While the internal hardware remains largely consistent with previous iterations in the series, the device introduces a 13MP rear camera system, which stands as the primary distinction from the earlier Redmi A5.
For the Malaysian consumer, the arrival of the Redmi A7 offers another low-cost option within the crowded entry-level mobile space. By focusing on a reliable display and core processing power that aligns with higher-tier models in its own sub-series, the A7 targets users who require basic functionality without the price premium of flagship hardware. Its release underscores the ongoing competition among manufacturers to provide essential smartphone features at a budget-friendly price point for the local market.
