The Chery Q, a compact battery-electric vehicle, has been spotted undergoing road tests in Malaysia. Captured in a right-hand-drive configuration, the sighting suggests that Chery is actively preparing the model for a local market debut. In its native Chinese market, the model is known as the QQ3. The vehicle features a single rear-axle motor that produces 122 PS and 115 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 41.3 kWh LFP battery, providing a claimed range of 400 km on the NEDC cycle, which translates to approximately 340 km under the WLTP standard. Charging capabilities include up to 85 kW DC fast charging, capable of a 30% to 80% state of charge in 16 minutes, and up to 6.6 kW for AC charging.

The interior and equipment levels vary by market configuration. In Thailand, the vehicle is offered in three variants with features including touchscreen displays ranging from 12.8 to 15.6 inches and instrument panels up to 8.8 inches. Higher-spec models include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring. Other available features include a 360-degree camera system, powered frunk lid, and voice recognition technology.

Practicality is a key focus for the compact hatch, which offers 375 litres of cargo space, expandable to 1,450 litres with the rear seats folded. Additional convenience features found in top-tier trims include 17-inch alloy wheels, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, and auto-parking functions.

The entry of the Chery Q into the Malaysian market reflects the intensifying competition in the local affordable EV segment.
