Gamuda Boosts Scholarship Fund to RM39 Million as Regional Footprint Grows
The construction group is scaling its talent development programme to meet rising demand for engineering and leadership expertise.

Gamuda Bhd has increased its scholarship allocation to RM39 million (US$9 million) this year, supporting a cohort of 206 students as the group commemorates 50 years of operations. This investment marks a significant rise from the RM31 million (US$7 million) allocated in 2025, reflecting the company’s ongoing strategy to cultivate a robust pipeline of future leaders.
According to the original publisher, the 206 successful recipients were selected from a pool of 4,096 applicants. By choosing this group, which represents the top 5% of candidates, the organisation aims to integrate diverse perspectives, fresh ideas, and specialized technical capabilities into its workforce.
The scholarship programme, now in its 30th year under Yayasan Gamuda, serves as a critical engine for the group's human capital requirements. As Gamuda continues to expand its regional footprint, the demand for high-level engineering, technology, and leadership talent has grown correspondingly.
Lin Yun Ling, group managing director of Gamuda, stated that the scholarship initiative underscores the firm’s philosophy that talent remains essential to both corporate expansion and nation-building efforts. The programme is designed to ensure the group maintains its operational capacity across its various regional projects.
For Malaysian readers, this long-standing commitment highlights the role of major corporate players in bridging the talent gap within the national engineering and construction sectors. By investing heavily in education, the group ensures a steady stream of skilled professionals capable of navigating the complex demands of large-scale infrastructure development both locally and internationally.
