Government Launches Rakyat Digital Platform to Boost AI Skills for Youth

The Malaysian government has officially launched Rakyat Digital, a new platform designed to provide local youths with enhanced access to artificial intelligence tools and essential digital skills training. Announced by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo at the AI Malaysia Takeover 2026, the initiative is a key component of the nation’s strategic roadmap to establish Malaysia as an AI-driven nation by 2030.

According to the original publisher, the platform centralizes several educational initiatives, most notably the Digital Literacy Hub. Additionally, it features a hybrid AI Builders Hub, which serves as a practical space for users to learn, experiment, and develop their own AI applications. To bolster these learning resources, the platform includes access to more than 16,000 professional courses and certifications hosted on Coursera.

Starting from August 31, the program will extend support to a significant segment of the population. Up to 100,000 Malaysians between the ages of 18 and 30 will be eligible to receive three months of complimentary access to a selection of AI tools. Beyond these promotional offers, the platform serves as a permanent repository for a wide range of both free and paid digital literacy courses aimed at improving the technical proficiency of the local workforce.

By consolidating these resources, the government intends to lower the barriers to entry for advanced technology training. This move is intended to ensure that the younger generation remains competitive in an increasingly digital economy, aligning with the broader national goal of fostering a high-skilled, tech-savvy populace capable of supporting the country's long-term digital growth objectives.
