ITMAX System Secures RM134 Million Kota Kinabalu Smart City Contract

ITMAX System Berhad has officially secured a project worth RM134 million from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to develop smart city infrastructure in Kota Kinabalu. The company will serve as the universal service provider tasked with the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of communications infrastructure and digital connectivity systems.

The firm formally accepted the MCMC Notification of Approval on 10 August 2026. According to the original publisher, the formal notification of the award was dated 6 August. This appointment marks a significant operational milestone for ITMAX as it expands its footprint in public infrastructure development.

The project encompasses a comprehensive rollout of technical solutions aimed at enhancing the digital landscape of Kota Kinabalu. As the universal service provider, ITMAX is responsible for the end-to-end integration of the required telecommunications and digital framework, ensuring the infrastructure meets the standards set by the MCMC.

For the Malaysian tech sector, this contract represents a substantial investment in regional digital transformation.
