MBSB Enables Contactless Payments via Samsung Wallet and Google Pay
MBSB Bank customers can now link their Visa Debit Card-i to major Android-based digital wallets for secure, contactless transactions.

MBSB Bank has officially integrated support for Samsung Wallet and Google Pay for its Visa Debit Card-i users. This update allows customers to conduct contactless payments using eligible Android devices, eliminating the requirement to carry a physical debit card for daily transactions.
According to the original publisher, users can easily add their cards to either digital wallet platform directly through the bank’s M Journey mobile application. This platform acts as the central hub for the bank’s digital suite, including its various payment, fund transfer, and investment services. Once the card is successfully linked, customers can complete transactions at any participating Visa merchant, whether located within Malaysia or abroad.
To ensure transaction security, MBSB has implemented device-based authentication and tokenisation technology. Through tokenisation, a customer's actual card details are never shared with merchants during the payment process. Instead, the system replaces sensitive information with a unique digital identifier, significantly reducing the risk of data exposure for the user.
The bank stated that this move aligns with the rising popularity of digital payment solutions among Malaysian consumers. Recent industry data shows that electronic payment transactions in the country grew by 25 percent in 2025, reaching a total of 18.4 billion. This shift highlights a broader move toward a cashless society, where security and convenience are the primary drivers for banking customers.
While this rollout currently focuses on Android-based wallets, MBSB has confirmed its intention to expand its digital payment offerings. The bank revealed plans to introduce Apple Pay support for its cardholders in the coming months, which will further increase the accessibility of its digital banking services to a wider range of mobile users across the country.
