Proton eMas Enters Sri Lankan Market via David Pieris Holdings Partnership
Proton has formalised a distributorship agreement to bring its eMas electric vehicle range to Sri Lanka.

Proton has officially signed a distributorship agreement with David Pieris Holdings (Private) Limited (DPHL) to introduce its eMas electric vehicle models to the Sri Lankan market. This strategic move marks a further expansion of Proton’s international footprint for its New Energy Vehicle (NEV) lineup.
DPHL, the holding company of the David Pieris Group, brings extensive automotive experience to the partnership. While the company began as an automotive-focused business, it has since diversified into logistics, financial services, and leisure. According to the original publisher, DPHL plans to leverage its existing in-house financial and logistics infrastructure to support the distribution and sales of Proton eMas vehicles in the region.
Edmund Lim Meng Thong, CEO of Proton International Corporation (PICSB), stated that the company views DPHL as the ideal partner to facilitate growth in the Sri Lankan market. The ultimate goal of this collaboration is to establish Proton as the leading NEV brand in the country. Sales of the eMas models are expected to commence later this year.
This development follows a period of rapid growth for Proton’s export strategy. Currently, the eMas models are sold in four markets: Singapore, Mauritius, Nepal, and Trinidad and Tobago. With the addition of Sri Lanka, the number of export markets will rise to five, with Brunei also expected to be added to the list in the near future.
For Proton, the introduction of the eMas range represents a broader effort to achieve deeper market penetration. In some regions, these models serve as the exclusive offering for the brand, while in others, they complement existing internal combustion engine vehicles, allowing distributors to provide a comprehensive range of mobility solutions to their local customers.
