Proton S70 Facelift Prototypes Spotted With New Design Elements

Prototypes of the facelifted Proton S70 have been sighted again on Malaysian roads, revealing fresh design details for the upcoming sedan refresh. The latest sightings indicate that the vehicle is undergoing significant testing, with new visual cues differentiating it from the current model.

One of the most notable additions is a set of quad round tailpipes reminiscent of those found on the Proton X50. These exhaust tips are prominently displayed at the rear, following a design language that suggests a more aggressive aesthetic for the sedan. According to the original publisher, these features appear to be functional components rather than cosmetic additions.

Further exterior revisions include updated taillights that feature segmented graphics similar to the Saga MC3. These lights appear to have a slimmer profile, drawing some visual influence from the fifth-generation Geely Emgrand. The facelifted prototype also sports a redesigned front fascia, including a new grille and a bumper equipped with larger mesh-style corner intakes.

The development of this facelift is believed to be an in-house project by Proton. Because the fourth-generation Geely Emgrand, which served as the base for the S70, did not receive a major design overhaul before the latest version was released, Proton is likely focusing on its own styling updates to maintain the sedan's market position. The national carmaker is expected to continue utilizing the current platform, which features a torsion beam rear suspension.

In addition to the exterior changes, the facelifted model is expected to introduce new wheel designs and potentially a redesigned interior. Early reports suggest that the cabin may be upgraded to include a larger infotainment touchscreen, further modernizing the user experience.
