Reliva Technology and BASF Malaysia Partner to Digitise Heavy Vehicle Safety
The partnership aims to deploy the e-Roads platform to enhance transport compliance and operational safety for industrial logistics.

Reliva Technology Sdn Bhd has officially entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BASF Malaysia Sdn Bhd to implement the e-Roads system, a digital solution designed to enhance safety and compliance protocols for heavy vehicle transport.
The agreement, announced on August 24, 2026, marks a significant collaboration between the local fintech firm and the subsidiary of the global German chemical giant. According to the original publisher, the primary objective of the partnership is to transition industrial logistics toward a more integrated, data-driven framework that prioritises road safety and operational efficiency.
Reliva chairman Noor Amin Noor Khan stated that the collaboration provides an opportunity to apply the e-Roads concept within a high-stakes industrial and logistics environment. At the heart of the system is the integration of the driver, the vehicle, and real-time information. By synchronising these elements before a journey begins, the system is designed to allow organisations to identify potential risks, intervene early, and make evidence-based decisions regarding their fleet movements.
Amin emphasised that the move is part of a broader vision for true digitalisation. He argued that technology in the workplace should not merely serve as a substitute for paperwork but should instead provide superior visibility and data-driven insights. By moving beyond simple digitisation, the company aims to foster a safer operational culture for logistics providers.
For the Malaysian public and the business community, this partnership underscores a growing emphasis on high-tech logistics management in an economy currently recording a 6.0% year-on-year real GDP growth. As Malaysia’s industrial sector expands, the demand for safer heavy transport becomes increasingly critical. For transport workers and SMEs, the adoption of such systems by major multinationals often sets a new industry standard, potentially reducing road incidents and improving the overall efficiency of supply chain operations across the country.
Investors and market observers may view this move as a signal that major industrial players are prioritising risk management and compliance technology to safeguard their operations against rising costs. With diesel prices currently fixed at RM4.67 per litre, transport companies are under significant pressure to optimise their logistics. Systems like e-Roads that promise better information and decision-making could be instrumental in helping firms manage these high operational costs through improved route planning and reduced vehicle downtime.
This partnership sits against a backdrop of a resilient Malaysian economy, where inflation remains relatively stable at 1.8% as of July 2026 and the unemployment rate hovers at 3.0%. As digital transformation becomes a core pillar of local economic strategy, the adoption of sophisticated logistical platforms is likely to continue as a trend, particularly among large-scale industrial players looking to align local operations with global safety and efficiency benchmarks.
The implementation follows a period of increased scrutiny regarding heavy vehicle safety on Malaysian roads. While the MoU outlines the commitment between Reliva and BASF, further details regarding the rollout timeline, the specific number of vehicles to be outfitted with the system, or the potential for expansion to other industry partners remain undisclosed.
It is currently unknown whether the e-Roads system will be integrated with existing telematics frameworks or if it will function as a standalone platform for BASF Malaysia’s logistics operations. Industry stakeholders will likely watch for performance metrics or pilot results in the coming months to determine the scalability of this safety-focused digital initiative.
