RHB Launches Sound Box Plus for Integrated QR and Card Payments
The new device enables Malaysian merchants to process both DuitNow QR and card transactions through a single, cost-efficient terminal.

RHB Bank has officially launched the Sound Box Plus, a versatile payment solution designed to allow Malaysian merchants to accept DuitNow QR codes alongside debit and credit card payments using one integrated device. This new offering aims to streamline the checkout process for businesses by consolidating multiple payment methods into a single piece of hardware.
According to the original publisher, the Sound Box Plus is equipped with near-field communication (NFC) technology and built-in SIM connectivity, ensuring reliable operation for various retail environments. The device is particularly well-suited for businesses that frequently handle card transactions valued below RM250.
A key feature of the Sound Box Plus is its real-time voice alert system, which provides instant confirmation of successful transactions. By offering immediate verbal verification, the device assists merchants in confirming payments quickly and helps mitigate the risk of fraudulent payment claims. This solution serves as an expansion of RHB’s existing range of Static and Dynamic DuitNow QR Sound Box products.
RHB Bank positions the Sound Box Plus as a more cost-efficient alternative to traditional, conventional card terminals. Nurjesmi Mohd Nashir, Managing Director of Group Wholesale Banking at RHB Bank, stated that the device reflects the bank's commitment to helping merchants operate with greater confidence by simplifying payment acceptance across multiple channels while enhancing operational efficiency.
For the local business landscape, this launch arrives as digital payment adoption continues to accelerate across Malaysia. By providing a practical and accessible tool that supports business growth, RHB aims to help local merchants adapt to shifting consumer preferences while maintaining secure and efficient payment processing systems. The bank continues to focus on delivering solutions that strengthen the domestic digital economy.
