Ryt Bank Enables Account Activation via ATMs and Bank Branches
Digital bank customers can now fund their accounts using the Interbank GIRO network instead of relying solely on online transfers.

Ryt Bank has introduced a new process that allows customers to activate and fund their digital accounts through ATMs and physical bank branches. This development serves as an alternative to the previous requirement, which mandated that all account activations be completed via an initial transfer from another bank through online banking.
According to the original publisher, Ryt Bank is the first Malaysian digital bank to offer this facility. While customers are still required to open their accounts and complete electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification through the Ryt Bank mobile application, the actual activation step has become more flexible. The bank achieved this by leveraging the Interbank GIRO (IBG) network to facilitate the initial transaction.
Wilson Soon, the Interim CEO of Ryt Bank, stated that digital banking should be accessible to everyone regardless of their preferred banking method. He noted that many Malaysians still conduct their banking activities at physical branches or ATMs. By integrating the IBG network, the bank aims to lower the barrier to entry for individuals who may not rely exclusively on online banking platforms for their primary financial needs.
This update represents a significant shift for the digital banking landscape in Malaysia. As more consumers move toward digital financial services, bridging the gap between traditional banking infrastructure and digital-only platforms remains a priority. By allowing physical touchpoints to serve as activation channels, Ryt Bank is adapting to the banking habits of a broader demographic, ensuring that users can transition into digital banking through methods they are already familiar with.
