Ryt Bank Introduces ATM Account Activation for Digital Banking Users
Customers can now activate and fund their Ryt Bank accounts through physical ATMs and bank branches.

Ryt Bank has become the first digital bank in Malaysia to allow account activation and initial funding through physical ATMs and bank branches. This move provides a new alternative for customers to finalize their account setup without relying solely on digital banking transfers.
Traditionally, while the account opening process is performed entirely via a smartphone, the final activation step requires an initial deposit from an existing bank account using online banking. According to the original publisher, this requirement has created an entry barrier for individuals who do not use or have access to online banking facilities.
By leveraging its participation in the Interbank GIRO network, Ryt Bank has expanded its activation pathways. Customers are still required to complete the electronic Know Your Customer process through the Ryt Bank mobile app. Once that is finished, they can perform a transfer at a traditional ATM or visit a physical bank branch to complete the funding process.
Ryt Bank has not specified a fixed minimum amount for these offline transfers. Instead, the bank notes that the required transfer amount will depend on the cash denominations supported by the specific ATM or the branch channel selected by the user.
This development is significant for the Malaysian digital banking landscape as it bridges the gap between traditional banking infrastructure and the digital-only model. By offering an offline activation route, Ryt Bank aims to make its services more accessible to a broader segment of the population, including those who may be less comfortable with or lack access to online banking platforms. The bank is backed by YTL Power International and Sea Limited.
