Selangor Government Initiates Support Measures for Panasonic Employees Following Factory Closure
State officials are preparing to engage with affected staff to provide employment assistance and social support as the company plans its operational shutdown.

The Selangor state government has announced its intention to hold a direct meeting with employees of Panasonic to discuss job security and welfare assistance following the company’s planned facility closure. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari confirmed that the state administration is taking proactive steps to engage with those impacted by the upcoming transition.
According to the original publisher, the Malay Mail, the meeting will be facilitated by the State Human Resources, Poverty Alleviation, Indigenous & Minority Affairs Committee. The committee’s chairman, V. Papparaidu, is set to lead the discussions alongside representatives from the Social Security Organisation (Socso) to ensure affected workers receive adequate guidance during this period.
The state government aims to provide a clear pathway for workers, focusing on potential re-employment opportunities and other forms of support available to those facing redundancy. By involving both state committee leaders and social security representatives, the authorities hope to streamline the process of transitioning workers into new roles or connecting them with relevant government aid programs.
The intervention reflects a broader effort by the Selangor administration to mitigate the socio-economic impact of corporate restructuring within the state’s industrial sector. As a key economic hub in Malaysia, the stability of the local workforce is a recurring concern for state officials whenever major manufacturing entities adjust their operational footprint. This move signals a commitment to maintaining labor market resilience and providing a safety net for workers navigating unexpected career disruptions.
