ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Secures RM5.6 Billion for Johor Campus
The data centre provider has obtained green financing to develop its flagship facility in the Nusa Cemerlang Industrial Park.

ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has secured a green financing facility of up to US$1.37 billion, equivalent to RM5.6 billion, to bolster the development of its flagship Malaysian campus. The STT Johor facility is situated in the Nusa Cemerlang Industrial Park and is designed to provide 166MW of capacity.
According to the original publisher, the financing package is structured as a green loan facility specifically intended to support the first phase of the campus development. This capital deployment aims to align the expansion of the site with the creation of resilient, energy-efficient, and sustainable digital infrastructure.
The financing facility was arranged by a consortium of major financial institutions. United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd acted as the sole coordinator and mandated lead arranger for the deal. The consortium also included OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad, and CIMB Bank Berhad, all serving as mandated lead arrangers.
This significant investment serves to reinforce Johor's growing reputation as a critical regional digital infrastructure hub. By supporting the infrastructure needs of the state, the project also aligns with the broader development ambitions of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
As one of the fastest-growing data centre providers globally, STT GDC’s commitment to this campus highlights the increasing importance of Malaysia in the regional data economy. The establishment of this 166MW campus represents a strategic expansion for the company, providing the necessary scale to meet the future demands of the digital sector in Southeast Asia.
