TNB Electron Launches New 120kW DC Charger in Johor Bahru

EV owners can now access a new high-speed charging facility at the McDonald’s Seri Austin Drive-Thru.

TNB Electron has expanded its electric vehicle charging network in Johor by activating a new 120kW DC charging station at the McDonald’s Drive-Thru in Seri Austin, Johor Bahru. This deployment marks a continuation of the operator's strategy to place chargers in convenient locations for EV drivers.

According to the original publisher, the new site features a standalone 120kW DC charger equipped with two CCS2 nozzles. This configuration allows for simultaneous charging, providing a practical solution for drivers looking to power up while stopping for a meal.

In line with the operator's standard payment system, the charger is priced at RM1.50 per kWh. Users do not need to download or navigate a mobile application to initiate a charging session. Instead, payments are processed directly at the station via a JuiceUP card terminal, which accepts both credit and debit cards.

To mark the opening of this location, TNB Electron is providing a promotional period offering complimentary charging. This free service is available for a 24-hour window, beginning at 12:00am on Saturday, 15th August 2026, and ending at 11:59pm on the same day.

The addition of this site is significant for Malaysia’s growing EV infrastructure, as it bridges the gap for drivers travelling through Johor Bahru. By integrating high-speed charging into retail and dining hubs, operators are addressing range anxiety and improving the overall convenience of ownership for local EV users. These strategic placements are essential for supporting the increasing adoption of electric vehicles across the country, ensuring that infrastructure keeps pace with the transition to sustainable transport.
