iCaur V25 Revealed In Right-Hand Drive; Australian Launch Set For 2027

Following its recent debut at the Chengdu Motor Show, iCaur has officially unveiled the right-hand drive (RHD) version of its V25, marking a significant step in the brand’s international expansion. The company has confirmed that this range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) will spearhead its entry into the Australian market, with a launch scheduled for early 2027.

The V25 is essentially a stretched, more capable sibling to the V23. According to the original publisher, the vehicle measures 4,636 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,855 mm in height. This makes it substantially larger than the V23, with an extra 416 mm in length and a wheelbase extended by 85 mm to 2,820 mm. The design has also been tweaked to reflect its off-road aspirations, featuring a prominent rear overhang, round LED daytime running lights, and a bumper-mounted rear number plate recess to accommodate a full-sized spare tire.

Under the skin, the V25 is expected to adopt the robust powertrain configuration found in the larger V27. This includes a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine acting as a range extender. While official specifications for the global model are pending, the setup is likely to offer two configurations: a single-motor variant producing 252 PS (185 kW) and 300 Nm of torque, or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering 455 PS (335 kW) and 505 Nm.

Performance figures are equally impressive, with the top-tier dual-motor model capable of sprinting from zero to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The vehicle is equipped with a 33.679 kWh LFP battery, providing a pure electric CLTC range of over 210 km, while the total range—aided by the range extender—is estimated to exceed 1,200 km.

For Malaysian consumers, the arrival of a RHD version is a pivotal development. Malaysia’s growing interest in EVs has been tempered by concerns regarding long-distance range and charging infrastructure. A REEV like the V25 offers a middle ground, providing the benefits of electric driving for daily commutes while mitigating range anxiety during long-haul travel. As the local market continues to shift, the V25’s blend of 4x4 ruggedness and hybrid efficiency could position it as a compelling alternative to traditional petrol-powered SUVs if introduced locally.

Furthermore, the V25 could be a strategic fit for the Malaysian energy landscape. With current petrol prices—specifically the unsubsidized rate of RM3.77 per litre compared to the subsidized RON95 price of RM1.99—drivers are increasingly sensitive to fuel consumption. An extended-range vehicle that prioritizes electric power could significantly lower operating costs for Malaysian households and SMEs, provided that the retail price remains competitive against other imported EVs currently flooding the market.

This launch coincides with a resilient Malaysian economy, which recently recorded a real GDP growth of 6.0% year-on-year. While the unemployment rate remains low at 3.0%, the inflationary pressure of 1.8% suggests that consumers are becoming more calculated with their big-ticket purchases. Investors and automotive analysts will likely be watching to see if iCaur follows its Australian launch with a similar push into Southeast Asian territories.

Despite the excitement surrounding the RHD debut, several details remain unconfirmed. Official pricing for the Australian market has not been disclosed, nor has there been any concrete statement regarding potential sales in Malaysia. Prospective buyers and industry observers will have to wait for further announcements as the 2027 launch date approaches.
