Perodua Bezza Leads July 2026 Sales as e.MAS 5 Makes History

New car registration data from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) reveals that the Perodua Bezza has maintained its position as Malaysia’s best-selling vehicle for July 2026. The sedan recorded 9,821 registrations, contributing to a total of 31,842 units for Perodua, which saw a 15.7% increase in monthly sales. The Proton Saga followed in second place with 7,814 units, while the Perodua Axia secured third with 7,154 units.

According to the original publisher, the Perodua Myvi and Alza rounded out the top five, giving the manufacturer four of the five highest-selling models for the month. Year-to-date figures show the Bezza leading with 57,284 units, followed by the Saga at 52,048 and the Axia at 44,064.

The most significant shift in the monthly rankings is the performance of the Proton e.MAS 5, which climbed to sixth place with 2,402 units. This marks the first time an electric vehicle has appeared in the overall top ten in Malaysia. The e.MAS 5 showed strong momentum, jumping from 13th place in June to become the highest-placed EV ever to appear on the registration chart.

Behind the e.MAS 5, the Honda City took seventh with 2,362 units, and the Toyota Hilux placed eighth with 2,293 units, marking its strongest month of the year. The Perodua Traz ranked ninth with 2,244 units, while the Toyota Vios completed the top ten with 2,185 units. Other notable models just outside the top tier included the Perodua Ativa in 11th and the Proton X50 in 12th.

This data underscores a shifting trend in the domestic automotive market, as the emergence of the e.MAS 5 in the top ten signals growing consumer adoption of electric vehicles. As infrastructure and affordability continue to evolve, the ability of an EV to compete directly with high-volume internal combustion engine models marks a critical turning point for the Malaysian transport sector.
