U Mobile Secures Top 5G Performance Metrics in Latest Opensignal Report

U Mobile has recorded significant achievements in 5G performance, securing leading positions in quality, coverage, and experience metrics according to the latest mobile network report. The findings, as reported by the original publisher SoyaCincau, highlight the telco’s strong performance during the second quarter of 2026.

Data analyzed between 1 April and 29 June 2026 indicates that U Mobile led the industry in 5G download speeds and 5G availability. During this period, the company captured the highest number of regional awards in Malaysia, totaling 51 sole victories and 61 shared successes. This performance follows the telco’s announcement in April regarding its ULTRA5G network rollout, where it claimed to reach 82.9 percent population coverage in under nine months.

However, these results reflect performance primarily while utilizing the Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) infrastructure. The Opensignal data collection concluded on 29 June 2026, merely two days before U Mobile fully migrated its customers off the DNB network on 1 July. Consequently, the report does not account for the network experience following the transition to the telco’s independent infrastructure.

For Malaysian subscribers, this report offers a snapshot of U Mobile’s network capabilities during its final phase of reliance on the national wholesale network. While other major telcos such as CelcomDigi, Maxis, Unifi, and Yes continue to utilize DNB’s 5G services, U Mobile’s move toward its own network marks a significant shift in the local telecommunications landscape. The data provides a baseline for comparing how the provider performs as it continues its independent 5G expansion moving forward.
